Well is a structure for drawing Water from the ground.
The efficacy of your wells will depend on location so Prospecting should be used to find a suitable area to build, generally near bodies of water.
Watering can be automated by selecting a worker, press shift+mouse right on the farm then release on the inventory button. This will create the order brought to the farm.
