Aye, got no tongue, past owner cut it out. He can be a pretty feisty one so can't say I blame 'em for it. I can just picture the bastard givin' lip, probably woulda done the same myself... I tell ya, I need to make my money back somehow, don't care if I gotta make bonemeal outta the good-for-nothing meat sack.
Purchasing Ray reduces the player's relations with the Slave Traders by 5.
Ray is mute because he has no tongue. He can't interact with any shopkeepers or other non-player characters, although dialogue might trigger on him if someone runs up to talk to him (freed slaves, bandit leaders, for example). This is technically a bug.
He starts with Hive Prisoner Shackles which are unlocked and can be removed. He also starts with the 'obedient slave' task which means nothing because he is owned by the player faction.
The Statistics here are taken from FCS. Skills will be multiplied by the racial multiplier. Players should also be aware that non-player characters also level up while fighting.
Trivia
Ray's name might be a nod to the head shape of all Hive Soldier Drones.
According to Forgotten Construction Set Ray has specific dialogue that can be triggered by a certain condition/interaction.
As stated above, if you kill Bar fly before buying Ray, you won't be able to recruit him. The mod, Recruit Ray by freeing him, fixes this issue.
Bar fly may spawn in both Eyesocket and Slave Markets and both may be interacted for buying Ray, but only one has Ray following, depending on which location you visit first. Paying the one who doesn't have Ray won't recruit a second Ray.
